Kipp Umwelttechnik develops a new coating system for drain pipes

The new procedure LiningMaster completes Kipp Umwelttechnik’s duct relining program.

Kipp Umwelttechnik GmbH has been active regionally in wastewater technology for 30 years. Kipp Umwelttechnik offers a complete range of products in this field, including sewer cleaning, sewer inspection, leak tests and trenchless sewer rehabilitation. Kipp Umwelttechnik's sewer rehabilitation services include partlining, inlining, pipe relining, long pipe relining and short pipe relining. Now the new LiningMaster rehabilitation method has been added. The sister company Jens W. Kipp Tiefbau GmbH, which has been in existence for more than fifty years, is responsible for open-cut sewer work.

Easy handling, can be used almost anywhere due to small size and weight of the unit

Kipp Umwelttechnik has now additionally developed a new, cost-saving spray process for coating wastewater pipes, especially in buildings, for which a patent has already been granted. The process can also be used in pipes with 90° bends, requires only a small amount of space and can be used in cast iron pipes and plastic pipes from 40-150 mm. The extremely wear-resistant coating agent is approved for use in buildings and can be additionally reinforced with additives such as carbon fibre or solid particles of glass or other special organic substances. The process is used, for example, to compensate for corrosion damage, in cases of slight cracking and to seal leaks in the connection area of pipes. The coating material hardens quickly. The sewage pipes can be put back into operation about one hour after completion of the coating. Pipes that are to be disconnected are also coated at the connection points; reworking measures are usually not necessary.

Careful cleaning of the pipes is imperative for the adhesion of the coating to the inner pipe walls

Before coating, Kipp Umwelttechnik uses special processes to clean the inner pipes. At the same time, the inner pipe walls are slightly roughened. This achieves optimum adhesion of the coating. Any cleaning of the coated pipes that may be necessary at a later date, e.g. using a high-pressure water process, is still possible. Investigations of coated pipe surfaces of a cast iron pipe were carried out by the University of Paderborn. Excellent adhesion of the coating to the pipe wall was found.

The LiningMaster method is a cost-effective alternative to the inliner method, especially for pipes with branching lines.

For commercial and industrial customers, a special version of the LiningMaster system will also be available in future for the rehabilitation of industrial pipelines.
