New infrared camera module for use by fire fighters and rescue teams

(PresseBox) (Jena, )
At this year's Interschutz the company Dräger, based in Lübeck and Jenoptik, Jena, will be presenting UCF 6000 and UCF 7000 thermal imaging cameras, the first products that have been jointly developed by the two companies within the framework of a cooperation agreement.

The thermal imaging cameras are based on an innovative infrared camera module from Jenoptik. The partnership collaboration is founded on a longterm cooperation agreement between Dräger and Jenoptik for the development of thermal imaging cameras for use in particular by fire fighters and rescue teams. Following a twoyear joint development period series production of the new infrared camera module will start at Jenoptik in Jena, with the finishing of the thermal imaging cameras being carried out by Dräger in Lübeck.

"In Jenoptik we have gained a partner whose specialist knowledge in the field of infrared technology complements our development knowhow and is setting benchmarks", said Dr. Bernd Spellenberg, Portfolio Manager for thermal imaging cameras at Dräger.

In the systems business Jenoptik is involved in thermographic cameras and thermal imaging equipment for applications in industry, in the areas of defense and security as well as research and development. "The strategic cooperation with Dräger is opening up new OEM sales markets for our proven infrared technology in the key market of fire fighting, search and rescue as well as aid organisations", said Dr. Frank Reichel, Head of the Sensor Systems business unit.

The new thermal imaging cameras help the emergency services cope in the best possible way with the various challenges they face such as providing a precise situation assessment in the event of a major fire or search and location for injured persons. Both cameras generate images of objects or bodies that radiate heat which is invisible to the human eye. They display the temperature range from - 40°C to 1000°C.
