Mit den Sicherheitskupplungen der Typen SKX-L und SKB bietet die JAKOB Antriebstechnik GmbH eine Sicherheitskupplungsgeneration zur Überlastbegrenzung bzw. zum Kollisionsschutz für indirekte Antriebe vor, die den modernsten Anforderungen gerecht wird. Der erheblich erhöhte Anwendernutzen besteht aus höheren Ausrückmomenten bei gleichzeitig kompakterer Konstruktion. Des Weiteren wurde die Montage durch die Verwendung einer Klemmringnabe erheblich vereinfacht. Eine bessere Rundlaufgenauigkeit, höhere Lagerbelastungen, größere Wellen- bzw. Bohrdurchmesser und eine einfachere Einstellung (Skalierung des Einstellrings) sind weitere Verbesserungen der Baureihen.

Durch die Verwendung von hochfestem Vergütungsstahl mit Randschichthärtung bzw. Plasmabeschichtung der relevanten Funktionsflächen konnte teilweise eine Verdoppelung der Ausrückmomente realisiert werden.
