Rohde & Schwarz launches OEM control and user plane correlation software module for mobile subscriber awareness

R&S®GSRM equips networking, IP traffic management and cybersecurity vendors with real-time subscriber- and session-level traffic visibility across 3G, 4G and 5G NSA networks to optimize network performance, quality of service and user experience.

ipoque GmbH, a Rohde & Schwarz company, today launched R&S®GSRM, an OEM software module for the correlation of control and user plane within the core of mobile networks to resolve data traffic per subscriber. This subscriber-level traffic visibility empowers vendors of network packet brokers and IP probes to enhance their solutions with session-aware traffic aggregation, filtering and load balancing capabilities. Additionally, policy control, cybersecurity and IP traffic management solutions benefit highly from mobile subscriber awareness, easily integrated as OEM software.

With multiple millions of GPRS tunneling protocol (GTP) sessions running concurrently across mobile networks, GTP session correlation — i.e. correlation of user plane and data plane traffic — is essential to achieve complete mobile subscriber awareness. Unless IP probes, network packet brokers and other network monitoring and management tools are designed to perform GTP session correlation, they are limited in their capacity to analyze subscriber sessions and are constrained further by bandwidth and throughput limitations.

Networking, IP traffic management and cybersecurity tools with full subscriber awareness enable communication service providers to optimize network performance and assure superior quality of experience for their subscribers across 3G, 4G and 5G NSA networks. Thanks to its linear scalability, R&S®GSRM offers highly performant and cost-effective subscriber resolution even with a growing number of mobile subscribers.

R&S®GSRM has undergone extensive field testing and is already deployed by several vendors of network packet brokers such as Niagara Networks. Embedding R&S®GSRM, network equipment vendors maintain subscriber experience and network security despite the rapid growth of IP traffic rates.
