Under the development leadership of Patel, the company will focus its directives to enhance its capabilities to deliver new enterprise connectivity services, as well as to position the company for entry into new market segments.

Patel spent the past 11 years at VeriSign, a provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world. As vice president of engineering, he managed the development of security services product lines including digital certificate and two-factor authentication solutions for web servers, devices and individuals. Patel also managed the development of managed security services (MSS) that enabled continual expert monitoring and management of security infrastructures, and spearheaded engineering efforts for VeriSign Payment Services that was sold to eBay/PayPal. "The center of gravity for enterprises is shifting to mobile work using web-based applications," said Patel. "I'm excited to join iPass and spearhead the creation of a new generation of services that can help our IT customers succeed in this new environment and drive our future growth."
Previously, Patel held software development and technical lead roles at Taligent and Apple Computer. Patel has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Bombay University in India and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
