HMF Smart Solutions: NATO Summit 2025 in The Hague without network outages – Smooth radio operation defies extreme stress

(PresseBox) (Bad Münder, )
HMF Smart Solutions GmbH gives a positive assessment of the NATO summit in The Hague. As a long-standing technology partner of the Dutch authorities, HMF Smart Solutions provides the digital radio infrastructure for the police, fire brigade and emergency services. Maximum availability and interference-free communication are particularly important in large-scale situations, high-profile political events or critical operational scenarios.

The summit brought over 8,500 delegates, including the heads of state and government of the 32 NATO member states, numerous partner countries and high-ranking representatives of international organisations to the Dutch coastal city. In addition, tens of thousands of visitors, protests and enormous traffic volumes placed extraordinary strain on the city's infrastructure.

During the two-day event with exceptional security requirements, radio communication between the Dutch police, fire brigade and emergency services ran smoothly and without network failures – even under the enormous strain caused by visitor flows, traffic volumes and protests.

‘Such major events are a tough test for security-critical communication systems and place the highest demands on the security and communication infrastructure. The fact that the emergency services were reliably connected to each other at all times is a clear signal of the quality and stability of our solutions,’ says Martin Hucke, CEO of HMF Smart Solutions GmbH.

In addition to a highly available radio network based on TETRA technology, HMF Smart Solutions also provided additional capacity for temporary operational priorities and mobile units. This ensured that the police, fire brigade and rescue services could be effectively coordinated at all times, even with high data and voice traffic volumes.

The NATO summit in The Hague was not only a significant event from a political point of view – from a technical perspective, it was also important to reliably connect thousands of participants, security forces and emergency services. The successful operations underscore the performance and stability of the systems provided by HMF.
