The metro in Budapest is the second oldest metro system in Europe and was officially put into operation in 1896 with line M1. The new line M4 will connect southwest Budapest (Buda) to north-eastern Budapest (Pest) and is to be completed in 2014. It will be the first metro in Hungary which will be operated fully automatically.
The TETRA system provides secure voice communications for employees and especially a powerful data exchange between the train-borne applications and the Operation Control Center (OCC). Integrator of the TETRA system and supplier of the dispatching system and the train borne communication devices is Siemens Convergence Creators GmbH, Austria, main contractor is Siemens Mobility & Logistics, Rail Automation, Germany.
The provided TETRA system comprises latest ACCESSNET-T IP technology from Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH, including 4 TETRA base stations, 2 IP Nodes for centralized switching in redundant configuration, the A-CAPI application interface and a comprehensive Network Management System (NMS).
