Flexible cable clamp reduces component diversity in rail vehicles

HellermannTyton has fundamentally reconsidered the "p-clamp" / The company will be demonstrating the versatility of the new Ratchet P-Clamp to visitors at InnoTrans 2018, Hall 10.1, Booth 207

The Ratchet P-Clamp from cable management specialist HellermannTyton is a new kind of cable clamp with a specially developed adjustable ratchet mechanism. It is suitable for fastening cables, hoses and pipes in rail vehicles.

The awkward handling of conventional p-clamps during installation and maintenance is now a thing of the past: The design of the Ratchet P-Clamp allows it to be mounted on a single fixing point in two separate steps: pre- and final assembly.

The adjustable clamp is easy to close by hand to the precise diameter required. There is no slack and the rifling on the inside of the clamp automatically centres the bundle and minimises the risk of pinching. Separate soft inserts provide strain relief and protection against abrasion caused by vibration.

The Ratchet P-Clamp can be reused time and again. The unique ratcheting mechanism can be levered open if required with the aid of a flathead screwdriver. No screws or bolts need to be removed. Maintenance engineers relish the fact that they no longer need to completely dismantle installations.

The Ratchet P-Clamp is available in four flexible sizes (A, B, C and D), covering the most common 6.2 mm to 51.0 mm diameter range.

The variability of the clamp diameter means that part diversity of metal and plastic p-clamps with specific diameters in inventories can be reduced.

The plastic used (polyamide PA66V0) meets the safety standards of the European railway standard EN 45545-2.

The corrosion-resistant stainless steel mounting plate is suitable for high torques. M6, M8, M10 and M12 hole sizes deliver greater configuration freedom than conventional p-clamps.

A handy fastening point for cable ties on the top of the clamp makes it easy to route additional cables parallel to the bundle.
