Die Lichttechnik am Fahrzeug hat in den vergangenen Jahren einen enormen Entwicklungssprung gemacht. Gasentladungslampen, Kurvenlicht und LED-Scheinwerfer sind nur einige der zu nennenden Schlagwörter. Höherer Lichtstrom, Reinigungsanlagen für Scheinwerfer und dynamische Regelung der Leuchtweiten führen zu einer deutlichen Verbesserung der Sicherheit. In den internationalen Regelungen ECE fehlen bisher jedoch Kriterien und Maßzahlen, um dieses Mehr an Sicherheit quantifizieren zu können. Neueste Forschungsergebnisse zeigen, dass eine Quantifizierung heute möglich ist. Darüber hinaus bietet die gegenwärtige Forschung erste Lösungsansätze für die Überwindung des Zielkonfliktes zwischen hoher Erkennbarkeits-Entfernung und geringer Blendung. Die Fachveranstaltung "Grundlagen und Visionen der automobilen Lichttechnik", die das Haus der Technik in Essen durchführt, schafft mit Vorträgen und Praxisbeispielen die Grundlagen zum Verständnis dieser anspruchsvollen Thematik. Neben photometrischen, geometrischen und energetischen Betrachtungen spielen bei dieser Veranstaltung auch Fragen der Augensicherheit beim Einsatz von IR-Scheinwerfern und LEDs eine wichtige Rolle. Genauso wichtig sind aber auch allgemeine Betrachtungen zu den unterschiedlichen Bauformen von Scheinwerfern und grundlegenden Berechnungen. Die verwendete Messtechnik und die gesetzlichen Normen runden das Programm ab. Das Haus der Technik hat sich als Veranstalter von Tagungen und Vortragsveranstaltungen zu Spezialthemen aus allen Fachgebieten auf höchstem Niveau seit fast 80 Jahren einen hervorragenden Ruf erworben. Die Veranstaltung "Grundlagen und Visionen der automobilen Lichttechnik" findet am 26.-27. Februar 2008 in Essen statt.
