Wireless sensor system: Condition monitoring of rapidly moving parts

Maintenance-free condition monitoring without cables

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
The Embedded Transponder Base (ETB) enters the next round. Entirely wireless, an object is clearly identified and its condition is monitored from a distance of several metres. To date it has been possible to poll four discrete conditions. The future model will acquire analogue measurements independently of the field bus and provider, and transfer them without wires or batteries. HARTING will be presenting this solution at SPS IPC Drives from 24 to 26 November 2015 (Hall 10, Stand 140).

Industrie 4.0 means networking a very wide range of components, facilities and IT systems. To date, rapidly moving objects and also rotating objects were difficult to monitor, as the sensor had to either feature a cable or a battery. And batteries always mean maintenance. The HARTING ETB is now filling this gap and transforming even rapidly moving components into "Industrie 4.0 components".

Specifically, axles, tools and transport systems receive a unique ID, as in the past. The ETB furthermore measures the current environmental conditions, such as temperature. This consequently allows precise condition monitoring, which can then be directly used to optimize the process. It is very easy to connect other sensors and switches to the ETB, which in turn allows completely new applications in the condition monitoring area.
