TC70 Stripper-Crimper: First automatic crimping machine for large cross-sections accelerating the expansion of energy infrastructures

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
Introducing the TC70 Stripper-Crimper, HARTING is launching a new automatic crimping machine, processing turned contacts of size TC70, which have a current carrying capacity of 70 A. The machine strips cables and then crimps contacts with a conductor cross-section of 10 to 25 mm². "Until now, there was no series crimping machine for processing multi-core cables with turned contacts in this cross-section range," as Anselm Hackbarth, Head of Crimping Service at HARTING Electric in Espelkamp stated.

The TC70 Stripper-Crimper cuts the cycle times for stripping and crimping the contacts down to an impressive 7 seconds. By comparison: Current workstations entail cycle times of up to 60 seconds and require many manual steps. In contrast, the HARTING automatic machine, guarantees process stability and boosts efficiency by up to 80%.

The TC70 Stripper-Crimper comes equipped with a camera-based transport and sorting system. The intuitive touch display enables simple machine and process settings, making all the necessary information available at a glance. The machine’s hexagonal dies are designed in accordance with DIN EN 48083/4, which have been tried and tested for years in HARTING 60 kN tools.

Hackbarth went on to comment: "The new TC70 Stripper-Crimper is the perfect solution for companies that want to increase their wire processing efficiency. With this technology, we are helping to shorten production times, while at the same time increasing the quality and reliability of the processing of TC70 contacts."

The potential time savings can be aptly illustrated by way of energy infrastructure projects: Powerful cable assemblies up to 70A can be industrially pre-assembled on a large scale with the Stripper-Crimper and integrated into the infrastructure on site with very little input and effort.
