Han® Size 4 saves up to 40 % of installation space

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
Han-Eco®, Han® B and Han® HPR are the first connector series featuring Size 4 hoods/housings and inserts. This new size, an intermediary between Han® 3 and Han® 6, offers space savings of up to 40 % compared to the next larger size. HARTING thus offers sustainable solutions for environments where installation space is limited to a minimum. There is a particular demand for this in mechanical engineering and automation as well as in energy and transportation applications.

Increase power density

The new size bridges a gap between two standards: the next-largest Han-Eco® 6B, for example, is not suitable for all energy applications, whilst the smaller Han® 3A cannot carry the required 70 A (the maximum is 40 A). Interfaces need to have a small footprint and must simultaneously transmit high currents, as capacities are rising and space is at a premium.

With the new size, users gain space for the rest of the required infrastructure, e.g., for cooling/ventilation. At the same time, the 70 A contacts of the Han-Eco® enable energy savings of up to 50 %, which also promotes sustainability. This is primarily due to the low impedance of the silver-plated 70 A power contacts compared to competing products (CEE plugs).

Option for mechanical engineering and robotics

There is also demand for the new size in power distribution and transmission as well as in mechanical engineering. For instance, Size 4 hoods or housings and inserts allow space-saving connections for drives, frequency converters and other equipment to be installed in harsh industrial environments. Special adapters are available for integrating inserts from a range of over 100 different Han-Modular® connectors, including PE conductors.

Advantages
  • Up to 40 % reduction in installation space whilst maintaining the same performance
  • Improved sustainability through reduced material consumption whilst maintaining the same technical functionality
  • Scalable and future-proof due to a modular design featuring more than 100 different modular inserts
  • Target markets: Machinery, Robotics, Power Distribution
