Han® Domino Push-In & Han® 400A Modules – New components for power density

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
Push-In is a technology for the tool-free, quick connection of conductors and contacts in industrial connectors. It is particularly well suited for field installation, as it is straightforward and requires no tools. For conductors with a small diameter, simply fitting a ferrule is sufficient to push them into the contact chamber and attach them there.

During removal, the wires can be pulled out of the contact chamber without damage: simply apply pressure to an actuator with a screwdriver – and the spring releases the conductor.

HARTING is currently expanding the Han-Modular® range to include connectors featuring this connection technology. The two modules Han® Domino EE (16A) and Han® Domino CC Push-in (40A) will be launched this spring. Both are designed for connecting loads in the low to medium voltage and power range. In addition to mechanical engineering, potential applications include electrical distribution systems, converters (e.g. in solar power systems) and battery cabinets. Thanks to their miniaturisation, both solutions increase the flexibility of the modular connector system: applications can be built on a smaller scale, and overall costs are reduced due to the higher power density.

The new Han® 400A module is designed for the rail vehicle segment. It enables the supply of applications in battery-electric trains up to 1500V/400A. The robust power connectors are suitable for both direct and alternating current. The contacts are designed to be IP20-touch-proof, ensuring that there is no risk of electric shock to the operator, for example when connecting the battery.

In energy storage systems, too, the trend is towards ever-higher currents and larger conductor cross-sections. The Han® 400A module allows the use of conductors with a cross-section of up to 185 mm². There are further useful application options in energy distribution: the Han-Modular® series offers flexibility because a single hinged frame can accommodate – alongside the 400A power contacts – further modules for data transmission, enabling, for example, temperature monitoring for a specific application.
