Han® 1A becomes more compact and powerful

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp, )
The Han® 1A is a miniature connector used to transmit power and data in mechanical engineering and railway technology. In both sectors, demand is growing for applications that require higher power ratings and larger cable diameters in the most compact design possible. One way to achieve this is through cable adapters such as the “Size 2”.

Typical applications for the Han® 1A include three-phase drives in mechanical engineering. Cables with thicker insulation are also used in the railway sector. With the Size 2 cable adapter, the Han® 1A becomes a viable option for both sectors. HARTING has developed the adapter for integrating cables with a larger outer diameter into the Han® 1A design. Therefore, even conductors with diameters of 10 to 13 mm can now be used in what is currently the smallest Han® connector. The adapter consists of a seal and a pressure nut and is fully compatible with all existing Han® 1A contact inserts. The hinged design ensures the seamless integration of different cable diameters.

Han® 1A Drive – compact screw-mounted housing

Further innovations improve installation efficiency. Thanks to its dimensions and modular design, the Han® 1A series is particularly suitable for connecting sensors, drives, door systems and lighting. A screw-mounted housing is now available specifically for compact motors/drives and control cabinet applications, which can be installed with virtually no tools. The angled housing is e.g. fed through an M20 through-hole in a motor terminal box or a control cabinet – and secured quickly and easily with an M20 lock nut. The new housing is compatible with all inserts in the Han® 1A series.

Benefits

Cable Entry Size 2
  • Suitable for cable assemblies with a cable cross-section of up to 13 mm (previously 10 mm)
  • Compatible with all inserts in the Han® 1A series
  • Up to 30% higher current transmission thanks to larger cable cross-sections
