Tremendous success around the world since launch of the world's first NB-IOT acoustic leak logger

(PresseBox) (Zug, )
Since the official launch of the ZONESCAN NB-IoT leak noise logger for fixed network leak detection at the end of 2019 on the first World Water Loss Day, its unique product features have already helped hundreds of utilities and water companies around the globe to upgrade their traditional technologies and methods in leak detection, in order to improve the efficiency of their water loss reduction programmes and reduce NRW while increasing customer service levels.

Countries that have fast adopted this advanced technology from Gutermann include USA, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Japan, Ireland, Switzerland and many more.

In the last 2.5 years, Gutermann has continued to add functionality and features which have led to an overall product offering and performance that is second to none:
  • Fully automatic, daily correlation across the leak detection system with extremely hight accurate and pinpointing reliability
  • Unique Leak-score-algorithm
  • A unique way to synchronise between different loggers
  • Fast and easy deployment time per loggers thanks to an effortless process via Android device
  • >95% connectivity rates thanks to the network’s deep coverage capabilities – even through cast iron lids
  • Most compact logger design in the industry – just one, small wireless unit
  • Maintenance-free operation thanks to easily self-replaceable batteries within a minute
  • Super robust all stainless-steel design with IP68 protection
  • Very attractive and versatile cloud visualisation software even for tablets and smartphones
  • Low communication costs thanks to the sustainable, future-proof Narrow-band IoT technology
  • Maximum scalability of the deployment
While NB-IoT is a new cellular communication standard optimised for machine-to-machine data communication in smart cities, it consumes 5-10x less power and has significantly improved underground coverage.

“With the ZONESCAN NB-IoT logger, we complemented the ZONESCAN ALPHA system which has established itself as the leading fixed network technology already in hundreds of cities around the world”, Uri Gutermann, CEO of Gutermann, said.

“This fully correlating system provides information about the exact position of the identified leak, neatly displayed on a Google Maps or Street view enabled user interface. The related cloud software ZONESCAN NET also lets users see and manage their leak detection infrastructure, perform advanced leak analyses, import and display their GIS data, and change settings such as recording times, alarm thresholds and more.”

Uri Gutermann added: “The buzz around our NB-IoT logger is really quite extraordinary. We are also seeing more and more customer projects that are structured around all-inclusive rental models that allow utilities to use their operational expense budgets on a multi-year basis to benefit from the long-term cost savings that this technology can yield for them.”

Gutermann has recently kick-started an in-person exhibition and conference programme to discuss customers’ challenges and work out appropriate solutions their water loss issues at several upcoming events.

Upcoming events and exhibitions where Gutermann will be present in the two months are Ozwater´22 (Brisbane, Australia), IFAT (Munich, Germany), ACE22/AWWA Annual Conference (San Antonio, Texas), IWA Water Loss (Prague, Czech Republic) and Global Leakage Summit (London, UK).

Gutermann AG

GUTERMANN is a global technology leader and innovator in intelligent water loss technologies and leak detection technology. GUTERMANN has specialised in the design, manufacturing and distribution of all conventional acoustic leak detection equipment for more than 60 years. With a constant focus on innovation, we are at the forefront of new product developments in our sector. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of water leak management technology, and continuously outmatch other offerings.

ZONESCAN NB-IoT is the world's first water leak detecting noise logger based on Narrowband Internet of Things ("NB-IoT"), the new LTE-based cellular communication standard optimised for machine-to-machine data communication in smart cities.

It permanently monitors water distribution mains for new leaks, and provides a Correlation Indicator for advanced filtering and leak identification in the Gutermann Cloud.

NB-IoT is a fully automatic and correlating distribution network monitoring system. Correlate, exclude false positives, pinpoint leaks to within 1 metre, retrieve historical data, and listen to leak sound from the comfort of the office.
