Die beiden Niederlassungen unterstehen der Hauptniederlassung von Clearstream für Asien und den Nahen Osten mit Sitz in Hongkong, die seit
1992 der Leitung von Philippe Metoudi untersteht, und sollen das internationale Netz mit Clearstream-Niederlassungen in Europa (Frankfurt, Luxemburg und London), den USA (New York) und Asien (Hongkong und Dubai) ergänzen.
Seit vergangenen November ist Clearstream der erste internationale Zentralverwahrer (ICSD), der die Abwicklung verzinslicher japanischer Staatsanleihen (JGB) außerhalb Japans anbietet. Mit ausgegebenen Wertpapieren im Wert von über USD 7 Bio. ist der japanische Staatsanleihemarkt der größte weltweit.
