gfai tech to showcase HydroVision SeaStar24 at UDT 2026 in London

Berlin-based technology company presents passive underwater Acoustic Camera for the first time at Europe's leading undersea defence technology event

(PresseBox) (Berlin, )
The Berlin-based research and technology company will present its HydroVision SeaStar24 passive underwater Acoustic Camera to the international undersea defence and security community for the first time in Europe. The system will be displayed at Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) 2026, taking place 14–16 April at ExCeL London, where industry leaders, defence stakeholders, and technology experts will gather to explore the latest innovations shaping the future of undersea security.

Visitors to the gfai tech booth D95 will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations of the SeaStar24, as well as participate in in-depth technical discussions and project consultations with the company’s experts.

First european public presentation of SeaStar24

HydroVision SeaStar24 is a passive underwater acoustic imaging camera designed to support security-oriented monitoring in sensitive maritime environments. Using a 24-channel hydrophone array and advanced acoustic beamforming, the system transforms underwater sound into spatial 2D and 3D visualizations – without transmitting any acoustic signals.

"UDT provides the ideal platform to introduce SeaStar24 to the European undersea defence and maritime security community," said Philip Höhna, CEO of gfai tech GmbH. "Passive acoustic imaging addresses a critical gap in underwater situational awareness, particularly in scenarios where emission-free and discreet monitoring is essential."

Unlike active sonar systems, SeaStar24 operates entirely passively, capturing existing sound in the underwater environment and reconstructing acoustic activity spatially in real time. This emission-free approach enables:
  • Discreet underwater surveillance without acoustic signature
  • Environmental compatibility (no additional underwater noise)
  • Real-time 2D and 3D acoustic visualization
  • Integration into existing maritime monitoring infrastructures
Application contexts for defence and security

SeaStar24 supports underwater situational awareness across multiple operational contexts:
  • Port and harbor security: Localization of underwater acoustic activity near docks, terminals and critical maritime infrastructure
  • Coastal infrastructure protection: Monitoring of subsea zones adjacent to governmental and strategic facilities
  • Offshore asset monitoring: Acoustic situational awareness for offshore energy installations, pipelines, and subsea structures
  • Maritime domain awareness: Integration into multi-sensor monitoring networks for comprehensive surface and subsea surveillance
The system is currently available as a pre-series (zero-series) platform intended for project-based deployment and application-specific development in cooperation with end-users and partners.

About UDT and scheduling a meeting

UDT is the leading global event dedicated to undersea defence technology, bringing together military end-users, research institutions, technology developers, and senior decision-makers from Ministries of Defence and NATO. The 2026 edition will focus on autonomous systems, sensor fusion, and advanced acoustic sensing technologies designed for contested maritime environments.
