Die meistfrequentierten Gartner Research-Artikel des vergangenen Monats illustrieren die klassische Herausforderung des CIO: In den "Top Predictions for IT Organizations and Users" werden neue, innovative Modelle und Technologien aus Bereichen wie Business Process Management, Unified Communications oder Virtualisierung vorgestellt. Eine Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Themen im Rahmen des IT Projekt- und Serviceportfolios ist ein Muss, um eine Kernanforderung an die IT umzusetzen: Geschäftswert liefern mit möglichst effizientem Mitteleinsatz. An Stelle zwei der Research Top 50 deshalb der "IT Spending und Staffing Report 2009", der von vielen CIOs als grobe Richtschnur für den 'richtigen' Mittel- und Ressourceneinsatz genutzt wird. Mein Apell für das Studium dieser Reports: es kommt weniger darauf an, so viel zu investieren wie andere Unternehmen einer Industrie, sondern darauf, Investitionen auf die richtigen Bereiche zu fokussieren.
