mechatroniX - Paradigm shift in product development

International Trade Fair for Progressive Product Development using Mechatronics

(PresseBox) (Neuffen, )
Product development in many sectors is characterised by increasingly complex customer demands and continuous miniaturisation of components. These trends lead to a constantly increasing requirement for mechatronic components. The integration of fields of technology that have up till now been largely isolated – mechanics, electronics and software – continues to create new challenges. The “mechatroniX” trade fair shows approaches for paradigms in product development that are novel, faster and more precise. The trade fair runs from 16 to 18 June 2009 in the Augsburg trade fair centre in Germany.

“mechatroniX places consistent emphasis on the mechatronic approach to product development – both cross-sector and cross-technology”, says Hartmut Herdin, MD of organizer fairXperts. “This is how we differ significantly from established, theme-oriented trade fairs in the propulsion or automation sector, where mechatronics represents only a fringe area”. But the new trade fair is certainly not restricted to the presentation of mechanical, electronic, control and software components or mechatronic systems. It’s also seen as the platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, because missing information or communication between engineers represents one of the biggest problems in the development of mechatronic systems. This view is borne out by the result of a survey carried out among MDs, developers and constructors from companies from a wide variety of sectors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the beginning of the year by the organizer.

Focused trade fair concept prevents wastage
93.5% of those surveyed consider the development or implementation of mechatronic systems in the next few years to be significant to extremely significant. Two thirds felt that trade fairs and exhibitions were the most important source of information about the latest developments. Nearly 90% consider a focused presentation and communication platform such as mechatroniX to be important to extremely important. The enormous requirement for information on the one hand, and the clearly delimited trade fair concept on the other make mechatroniX interesting for manufacturers, sellers and service providers. The areas of mechatronic development processes, development tools and components, as well as research and training facilities benefit from a unique platform of communication, presentation and operation. “As a company that implements miniaturised mechatronic systems, from idea to development to production, for plant and mechanical engineering, we are able to use mechatroniX as the ideal vehicle for conveying our capabilities using the trade fair´s thematic focus, thereby making new contacts,” says Dr Rainer Wunderlich, MD of pro-micron GmbH & Co. KG.

Entire spectrum of the mechatronic process chain
The exhibition portfolio comprises mechatronics systems and solutions, elements, components and required software, microsystems technology, software solutions for controlling the development processes, innovative materials, best practice solutions, consultancy and services, science and research, training and advanced training as well as technical literature. As a result, mechatroniX covers the entire spectrum of mechatronic competency. This allows for savings in time and costs, as well as minimising interface problems in the development process. Products can be improved, new customer-oriented solutions developed and value added optimised, thereby ensuring the future of the company. This in turn makes the trade fair the number one source of information for users of mechatronic systems in the automotive and vehicle industry, mechanical and plant engineering, automation technology and robotics, aerospace and space technology, medicine technology, energy and building technology, entertainment electronics, domestic appliance industry, sports items and toy industry and many other sectors. www.mechatronix-expo.de
