The rising costs of logistics – investments in future-proof warehousing and fulfillment solutions, personnel, and transport – is making it harder for businesses today to remain competitive. Lowering these costs means optimizing. But amid geopolitical turmoil and the uncertainty around changing technology, business leaders are often hesitant to invest in intralogistics. “Automation and digital transformation are nevertheless indispensable to compete internationally,” insists LogiMAT Exhibition Director Michael Ruchty from Munich-based event organizer EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH. “This is the context in which the exhibitors at LogiMAT 2026, reflecting current trends, are presenting cost-cutting entry-level and migration solutions for streamlining and automating intralogistics beyond traditional leasing offers.”
Rental and leasing models are not at all unusual in the world of intralogistics equipment. All industrial truck manufacturers, for example, have large rental fleets and also offer their customers equipment under various leasing models. The same is now true for warehouse equipment and systems. Cascade Italia (Hall 10, Booth 10B54) offers rental solutions and refurbished alternatives for attachments, forks, masts, and related technologies for forklifts and AGVs. AVV Arbeitsbühnen und Vertrieb (Hall 5, Booth 5A53), a provider of aerial lift technology, is coming to Stuttgart to present its own rental fleet of more than 200 state-of-the-art aerial work platforms. Carrybots (Hall 5, Booth 5C75) is presenting “Herbie,” a modular, mobile robot system for production-related intralogistics. Carrybots sets itself apart with its stated commitment to lowering the barrier to entry of automation with a starting price of €10,900 and pricing models that also let customers rent or lease their mobile robots.
Preconfigured software systems and pay-per-use models
In addition to rental solutions, used equipment, and second-hand systems, LogiMAT exhibitors will propose a wide range of other offers designed to lower investment costs for procurement and modernization. Exhibitors from the software sector in Hall 4, for example, are presenting affordable entry-level options and scalable rental models for warehouse management to complement their cloud solutions, including licensing and billing models based on usage volume and the option to lease IT and telecommunications infrastructure. GOD BM (Hall 2, Booth 2C05) is coming to Stuttgart with a modular, web-based warehouse management system featuring a pay-per-use billing model. Other software companies, such as CIM (Hall 4, Booth 4D10), offer slimmed-down, preconfigured versions of their systems with a defined, standardized feature set that can be quickly implemented and deployed.
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) applications is also raising the profile of maintenance. AI-based predictive maintenance software improves the care and maintenance of intralogistics systems and reduces downtime while boosting visibility and service life, yielding a better long-term return on investment. IMAGO Technologies (Hall 2, Booth 2A30) is among those running real-world scenarios at LogiMAT to demonstrate how AI-based vision solutions can identify anomalies early on, before they lead to downtime or quality problems. The combination of continuous imaging and smart analytics allows for the predictive evaluation of processes while supporting maintenance, optimization, and the analysis of root causes. LTW Intralogistics (Hall 1, Booth 1B37), with its modular LIOS software suite, offers a service model spanning the entire lifecycle of systems – ranging from global support and predictive maintenance tools to comprehensive retrofit programs that bring existing systems up to the latest technological standards and greatly extend their service life. The BEUMER Group (Hall 5, Booth 5C51) supports continuous system optimization and predictive maintenance with its Customer Diagnostic Center (CDC), offering customs diagnostics plans that continuously monitor the operating status and flag potential problems early on.
State-of-the-art facility management with smart maintenance
Jens Reissenweber, a member of the executive leadership of the Forum Vision Maintenance Association FVI, is presenting the Expert Forum “Thinking outside the box: what intralogistics and state-of-the-art facility management have in common” (March 24, 3:00 PM in the Atrium Arena) to help facility managers select the right maintenance tools and optimize their deployment. This year will also see the launch of the new Smart Maintenance Lounge (Hall 4, Booth 4H01), which will bring together prestigious industry experts offering a concise overview of trends and solutions, including autonomous inspection robots, remote maintenance tools, smart maintenance software, and digital twin simulations. Experts representing the perspectives of both users and providers focus on where intralogistics and smart maintenance can support and complement each other.
In June 2025, the German Parliament passed a package of tax incentives allowing businesses to benefit from accelerated depreciation of up to 30% per year for three years on investments made between July 1, 2025, and December 31, 2027. This incentive extends to such popular intralogistics solutions as electric forklifts, warehouse technology, AGVs, trailers, tugger trains, racking technology, and automation solutions. The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) is also offering subsidies of up to 33% of the acquisition costs of energy-efficient electric forklifts. Some forklift manufacturers are offering a special service to help their customers tap into these benefits. Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks Logisnext Germany (Hall 10, Booth 10F20) provides support to customers seeking to benefit from the tax incentives for investments. Toyota Material Handling Deutschland (Hall 10, Booth 10G41) is aggressively promoting a comprehensive package of services to help customers assess their needs, select the right solution to qualify for tax incentives, check whether they qualify for subsidies, and if so, submit their application to BAFA. The potential for savings extends to systems management and automation technology.
Automation as a Service
The flexibility and scalability of systems are important criteria to consider when choosing optimal, future-proof intralogistics infrastructure. Today’s leading-edge solutions support this: Shuttle warehouses can be expanded on a modular basis, while fleets of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) replace rigid conveyor technology, moving goods autonomously through the warehouse and offering flexible options for expansion. Robots with sensors and machine vision handle picking and retrieving. Full scalability, even for large automation and modernization projects, is ensured through best-of-breed solutions. This term, originally applied to software, refers to comprehensive vendor-neutral solutions assembled incrementally from powerful standalone system components. Such an approach makes it easy for companies to swap out individual systems and components and adapt their intralogistics as their business and the prevailing technology evolve – in many cases taking advantage of rent and lease options to thoroughly test-drive systems and components for compatibility. The Inther Group (Hall 5, Booth 5D33) is coming to LogiMAT to present Cubiscan 325, the integrated standalone system that determines the weight and dimensions of products, then automatically transmits the product data to the database or warehouse management system. The Cubiscan systems are also available to rent or lease.
Element Logic Germany (Hall 1, Booth 1H21) will light up LogiMAT 2026 with an innovative subscription model entirely unique in its product category: “Automation as a Service” gives customers access to AutoStore services without any up-front investment or implementation costs. The offering combines AutoStore hardware and software with after-sales service and support, all in one flexible package with transparent monthly billing based on performance indicators such as throughput and storage capacity. The subscription price includes a system design based on an assessment of needs, installation and integration of the AutoStore solution into the customer’s existing environment, real-time monitoring, and proactive support. Software solutions from the Element Logic warehouse suite ensure coordinated processes and seamless integration with legacy hardware.
“These examples underscore LogiMAT’s position as a bellwether for emerging trends and a platform for innovation,” concludes LogiMAT Exhibition Director Michael Ruchty. “The also confirm the relevance of this year’s theme: ‘Passion for Details – Discover the Difference.’ As with the entry-level and migration solutions outlined above, it’s often the details that point the way forward and define successful change. The exhibitors at LogiMAT 2026 are setting a new trend that empowers businesses to make critical investments even in economically uncertain times.”
