Innovative Energies and Technologies for the European market

ENERGY SYMPOSIUM 2017 hosted by EurA AG on October 18th in Aachen, Germany (at “TechnologieZentrum Aachen am Europaplatz”)

(PresseBox) (Aachen, )
Energy is the means of existence in a mo¬dern, industrialised society. Existing technologies need to be made more efficient and new technologies must be developed to guarantee the energy supply of the growing population with only using renewable energies in the future and stop using fossil and nuclear resources. There is a special need for development regarding energy generation, transition, storage, and the distribution in power grids.

The development of innovative technologies for the future energy supply is involving different technologies and industries like no other topic. Compared to other resources, the production, use and distribution of the resource energy does not stop at country borders. Additionally, energy has a decisive influence on the further development of society, on safety within countries and in the European Union, on the standard of living, the job market and the extent of the available capital.

These challenges will be discussed at the ENERGY SYMPOSIUM hosted by EurA on October 18, 2017. Representatives from economy, politics and science will share experiences and knowledge, make new contacts and initiate collaborative development projects. The symposium, that takes place in Aachen (GER) for the first time, will be held in English. It addresses experts and interested people from all over Europe.

Five key topics will be discussed in lectures and table workshops:

(1) Fuel cells and hydrogen: mobile and stationary applications
(2) Geothermal and hydro power: component and facility development
(3) Energy efficiency: building and production processes
(4) Renewable energies: generation and storage
(5) Network technologies and power distribution: components and ICT

Prof. Dr. Jean-Marie Bemtgen from the EU Commission in Brussels will introduce to the topic, like at the previous three Energy Symposia that took place at EurA’s headquarter in Ellwangen, Southern Germany.

Prof. Dr. Bemtgen is policy officer for new energy technologies at the European Commission. He is responsible for the funding topics „energy storage, power grids, smart grids and smart cities“ and amongst others, he has also developed the EU basic strategy for all technologies within the EU energy policy. New funding priorities of the HORIZON 2020 programme for the years 2018 to 2020 will be announced in autumn and “insider” Prof. Dr. Bemtgen will certainly say a few words and give hints on this topic.

Further key note speakers like the prime minister of the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia (GER) Armin Laschet and Emanuele Taibi from IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre (IITS) in Bonn (GER) are invited.

So far, 30 companies chose to build a Europe-wide network called “Energy Innovation Europe” managed by EurA. The network and its main topics will be presented at the Energy Symposium. The network is aiming at bundling the interests of businesses in the entire energy value chain, at identifying the market poten¬tial in the European member states, at gaining access to new markets, at acqui¬ring funding, at establishing cooperation, and at reaching a “critical mass” to influence decision-making processes with respect to research, innovation, legal, and other framework conditions. “Energy Innovation Europe” seeks to be an incubator and centre of growth. The network helps companies to realise and utilise the numerous opportunities of the energy transition for their business’ development.

“Streetscooter” – now a subsidiary from the Deutsche Post Beteiligungen Holding in Aachen (GER) – will present its latest electrical vehicle at the Symposium. The company “Optimize” will show the (by their own account) worldwide most energy efficient roadworthy two-seater.
