ESMT European School of Management and Technology welcomed the second cohort of the Master’s in Management (MIM) program to its campus in Berlin this week. The students from 29 countries will gain valuable knowledge and interdisciplinary experience in management over the next two years.
The MIM students, whose average age is 23, have received bachelor’s degrees from renowned institutions such as Boston University, Keio University in Tokyo, University of Oxford, TU München, and University of Southern California. Nineteen percent of the class is from Germany. Three students from Ghana, Kenya, and Lesotho are Kofi Annan Fellows. These full scholarships are for students from least developed countries, who plan to support the development of the economy in their home region after graduation.
The Master’s in Management degree is aimed at young people with a bachelor’s degree and proven analytical skills and little to no work experience. The MIM curriculum includes classes on campus as well as internships in Germany or abroad. Partner companies offering internships include Allianz, Axel Springer, Barclays, BMW, Bosch, Deutsche Post DHL, Deutsche Bank, E.ON, Gazprom, McKinsey, Siemens, and ThyssenKrupp. The bourgeoning startup scene in Berlin offers further internship opportunities. Students also complete a two-month social impact project and four months of applied research within the framework of the master's thesis in one of the partner companies or as part of an academic research project at ESMT. Students can choose one of three specializations: value chain analysis, innovation and technology management, or finance.
