Labelling and marking of products, parts, and goods are an elementary part of industry, service, and logistics. Many processes, from machining to further processing, from transport to tracing, depend on their accuracy. However, use of the coded information also comes with a certain potential for errors, e.g. due to smeared, illegible codes, defective labels, and transmission issues. “In spite of technologisation of the supply chain, there still was no all-round solution for simple and error-reducing handling of codes. We were going to change that. With the module jetStamp® 1025 sense marking device and the matching 1D & 2D code reader accessory, we have developed a new, mobile industrial application device,” says Gerolf Heldmaier, Director Sales & Marketing at marking specialist REINER. The device scans, processes, and prints 1D and 2D codes, including EAN, UPC, code 128 and IT F barcodes as well as ECC200 and GS1 data matrix codes.
Expansion on tried and tested principles
The REINER experts used the globally tried and tested jetStamp® 1025 sense marking device as the basis for their 3-in-1 solution and developed a plug-on scanner for 1D & 2D codes for it. Suitable for virtually any industrial environment, it will scan information without delay. The scanned code can be either copied or new company- and product-specific markings can be printed out or printed on after subsequent data processing in the device. Intermediate steps on a local PC, connection to an ERP system, or label printing are firmly in the past now. Instead, processes are permanently optimised with a view to working time and costs, and errors are verifiably reduced.
