Die Programmierung von Computerspielen ist eine der schwersten und komplexesten Aufgaben, denen sich ein Informatiker heutzutage stellen kann. Mit dem XNA Framework steht zum ersten Mal eine Entwicklungsumgebung für die Spieleentwicklung zur Verfügung. Diese wird damit einfacher, schneller und billiger. Jens Konerow führt in die Grundlagen des XNA Frameworks und der kostenlosen Entwicklungsumgebung "XNA Game Studio Express" ein und zeigt, wie man damit professionell Spiele und andere Anwendungen programmiert. Viele Beispiele erleichtern die praktische Umsetzung.

Jens Konerow ist Autor von "Managed DirectX und C#" und betreut das Thema Spieleprogrammierung im dot.NET-Magazin. Den Werdegang des XNA Framework und von XNA Game Studio Express verfolgt er seit den ersten Beta-Versionen.
