Speicherstandards / EMC integriert SNIA-Speicherstandard SMI-S v1.2 in seine Systeme

Interoperabilitaet und verbessertes Speicher-Management fuer Kunden

Als einer der ersten Hersteller hat EMC den SNIA-Standard SMI-S v1.2 in 36 Modelle seiner Speicherloesungen Symmetrix und CLARiiON integriert. Die Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) in der Version 1.2 umfasst Funktionalitaeten wie Block Storage Views, Storage Server Assymetry und Volume Composition. Damit unterstreicht das Unternehmen sein fortwaehrendes Engagement fuer die Entwicklung offener Standards fuer das herstelleruebergreifende Speicher-Management. Kunden koennen ein Upgrade auf den EMC SMI-S Provider v3.2 entweder ueber ihren EMC-Ansprechpartner oder ueber die Partner-Website Powerlink erhalten.

EMC hat die bereits vorhandenen SMI-S v1.1 Profile um die neuen Funktionalitaeten ergaenzt und darueber hinaus zusaetzliche plattformspezifische Erweiterungen vorgenommen. Diese bieten Kunden Zugriff auf umfangreiche Management-Funktionalitaeten innerhalb der EMC-Speicherarrays. Neben den bereits vorhandenen Funktionen zaehlen dazu Access Points, Block Server Performance, Disk Drive Lite, Extent Composition, FC Initiator Ports, FC Target Ports, iSCSI Target Ports, Location, Masking and Mapping, Multiple Computer System und Software. Saemtliche EMC-Speicherloesungen koennen nun mit jeder SMI-S-konformen Management-Applikation verwaltet werden, inklusive der EMC ControlCenter Software.

Folgende EMC-Speicherloesungen verfuegen ueber die neuen SMI-S Funktionalitaeten:

- EMC Symmetrix Familie: Symmetrix DMX-3, DMX-2, DMX-1, und Symmetrix 8000 Produktreihen.

- EMC CLARiiON Familie: CX3-, CX- und AX-Produktreihen.
