Angela Merkel ist Deutschlands erste Bundeskanzlerin, Frankreichs Sozialisten haben mit Ségolène Royal erstmals eine Frau in den Kampf um die Präsidentschaft geschickt und selbst im mächtigsten Land der Welt, in den USA, ist eine weibliche Präsidentin in der Person von Hillary Clinton nicht mehr undenkbar. Der Vormarsch der Frauen an die Spitze von Staaten und Regierungen wird zum Symbol des 21. Jahrhunderts. Ist das ein Sieg der Emanzipation oder eine Krise der männlichen Eliten? Diese und weitere Fragen stellt sich Trautl Brandstaller in ihrem aktuellen Buch "Die neue Macht der Frauen". Darin analysiert sie weibliche Strategien, die Rolle der Männer beim Aufbau weiblicher Politkarrieren, den Einfluss der Medien und stellt nicht zuletzt die Frage nach der Bedeutung der weiblichen Werte und der weiblichen Solidarität.
Trautl Brandstaller wurde 1939 in Wien geboren, studierte Rechts- und Politikwissenschaft und war als Journalistin bei Kathpress, Furche, Neuem Forum und Profil tätig. Ab 1975 war sie Redakteurin beim ORF-Fernsehen, leitete dort von 1976 bis 1984 das Fernsehmagazin "Prisma" und von1986 bis1992 Hauptabteilung Gesellschaft, Jugend und Familie. Sie war regelmäßige Moderatorin des Club 2 und Gestalterin zahlreicher TV-Dokumentationen. Nun ist sie als Buchautorin und freie Publizistin tätig.
