Doka proves its leadership in innovation

DokaXdek revolutionizes Slab Construction across Europe

(PresseBox) (Amstetten, Austria, )
Doka, a global leader in formwork and scaffolding, is launching a major roll-out of its revolutionary slab-formwork DokaXdek by making the innovative product available across Europe. In the course of the year 2024, the highly versatile system will be available to industry professionals working in numerous countries through their local Doka representative. This is the next big step since it was launched at bauma 2022 and introduced to customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Norway.

The DokaXdek family consists of three complementary systems – the DokaXdek table, DokaXdek panel and DokaXdek I-frame. Designed to seamlessly combine or work independently, the systems optimize flexibility and address current and future issues around safety, ergonomics and economy on construction sites internationally.  The system has already impressed customers with its versatility, ability to streamline work processes and increased cost-effectiveness. The DokaXdek family supports a range of applications, from smaller projects to major construction developments, and perfectly exemplifies the innovative spirit which underpins the Doka corporate strategy.

Robert Hauser, CEO of Doka, says, “With DokaXdek, we have developed a slab formwork system that fulfils our customers' requirements. The system, which is incredibly flexible, can be combined so easily that it is as valuable on small residential projects as it is to workers on large construction sites. Customer feedback has been consistently positive, and many success stories from construction sites prove that DokaXdek has added real value to the market. We have listened to our customer feedback and are confident that the system has a promising future, which will be enhanced by its launch in numerous new markets.”

DokaXdek: winning on site
The ecological DokaXdek table is the strong member of the DokaXdek family, and its ease of use and durability were welcomed by Jostein Flatås, owner of Gauldal Betong AS, responsible for the "Dalgårdstunet" residential construction project in Norway. The creation of 115 flats spread over four buildings and 14 terraced houses maximized the DokaXdek tables for the efficient formwork of around 9,000 m3 of in-situ concrete on all slab surfaces. "We particularly like the four logical DokaXdek table formats. The slab system has a modular structure and, therefore, allows the tables to be combined as required." The DokaXdek table is available in four different formats, four to five meters long and two to two and a half meters wide. The compact, just 12 cm high, hot-dip galvanized steel frame promises a long product life cycle and optimized transportation so reducing its CO2 footprint.

Three projects in Germany are also benefitting from the DokaXdek system. Zsolt Mikuska, site manager at the Augsburg office building of Hafner Hoch und Tiefbau GmbH, explains the company was looking for a particularly efficient solution for the construction of a new four-storey commercial building with an underground carpark in Neusäß. The design required a modern, clean, exposed concrete look which was facilitated by the DokaXdek features. Mikuska says, "Formwork set-up and repositioning are extremely quick and easy with the new slab tables. And thanks to the low construction height, transport costs are reduced.”

In Munich, Michael Drexler, senior foreman at S. Pöttinger GmbH & Co. KG responsible for overseeing the construction of 250 residential units with balconies, an underground car park and commercial properties, adds: "DokaXdek is a real all-rounder. We used the tables from the basement to the roof and for the balcony. The easy handling saved us not only time and money, but also nerves.” Thanks to the permanently installed side protection, the DokaXdek slab tables offered comprehensive safe working for the assembly of the balconies and pergolas without the need for additional façade scaffolding.

A new specialized four-storey clinic in Treuchtlingen consisting of two U-shaped wings connected by a central core, features complex geometry. Christian Postler, foreman of MAUSS BAU GmbH & Co. KG explains that a flexible, easy-to-operate slab formwork system was needed. The lightweight DokaXdek panel floor formwork system fulfilled this need as it can be safely assembled and dismantled from the ground by a crew of just two workers. Because safety is so important, the DokaXdek panel floor formwork has built-in anti-liftout guards. Postler describes: "DokaXdek in four words: light, fast, yellow, ingenious. Great formwork and great concrete results.”

In Doka’s home country Austria, the construction company DYWIDAG is realising the QUADRILL project with the Bodner Group in Linz. As one of Austria’s largest construction projects the DokaXdek panel floor formwork is supporting the formation of complex, geometric shapes. The 109 m high-rise tower, one of the largest outside of Vienna houses residences, offices, commercial outlets and a hotel, with a further three buildings being constructed in its shadow. The one-by-two meter flexible DokaXdek panels, joined together in a longitudinal and transverse grid, provide the perfect solution to conveniently support construction. Franz Dorninger, supervisor at DYWIDAG, emphasizes, "The many critical closure zones can be filled quickly and easily using DokaXdek panels, infill beams, suspension clamps and formwork sheets. Handling the system is simple and self-explanatory."

“It is clear from our customers that with our innovative, convenient and practical DokaXdek system, we are changing the landscape by unlocking new potential for our customers across Europe while focusing more than ever on the site crew and their needs in terms of ergonomics and safety,” concludes Robert Hauser. “The construction industry continues to focus on improving safety, increasing cost-efficiency and reducing CO2, and with the DokaXdek system, we are enabling our customers to achieve these goals by supporting more efficient construction sites across Europe.”

Get ready to automate
Doka has also taken a giant step towards automation by developing the DokaXbot, which is door-entry capable, making it universally applicable. Pre-positioned by an operator DokaXdek panels are then semi-automatically lifted to the selected height and position. In this way, the DokaXbot reduces the workload of the site crew while significantly increasing the crew’s safety and productivity. The market launch of the DokaXbot is planned for 2025 and will complete the DokaXdek family.
