(PresseBox) (Bonn, )
As the main media partner at the Beethovenfest Bonn, Deutsche Welle (DW) will support the event with its expertise in international cultural and media affairs. Audiences can expect coverage that includes TV segments, portraits of musicians and reports from the festival, as well as a multimedia project orchestrated by a diverse team of journalists in training. Additionally, DW will distribute recordings of the concerts to rebroadcasting partners, including stations in the USA, Russia, Turkey and South America. In Bonn, DW will take part in the festival's public viewing at the central market square. A moderated stage program followed by a live concert transmission is slated to begin at 3 pm (CET) on September 27. The concert features the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen with conductor Paavo Järvi.

Orchestra Campus "Beethoven ile buluşma - Encounter with Beethoven"

Turkey returns as the partner country in this year's Orchestra Campus project, organized jointly by Deutsche Welle and the Beethovenfest Bonn. German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has agreed to serve as patron for this year's intercultural exchange between youth orchestras. DW's Turkish Department will help bring the festival's motto to life on its website, www.dw.de/turkish, which is set to present content that includes a German-Turkish multimedia project on integration through music. In the series, well-known German and Turkish artists offer their points of view on mutual influence between the two countries.

Turkish musician commissioned to compose an orchestral piece

This year, the Orchestra Campus is cooperating with the Istanbul University State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, led by Artistic Director Ramiz Malik Aslanov. There are around 70 musicians in the orchestra. With its 950 students, the Istanbul University State Conservatory is one of the largest and most significant conservatories in South Eastern Europe. Each year, DW commissions a new composition from a young musician who hails from the partner country for the Orchestra Campus project. Turkish composer Zeynep Gedizlioglu (*1977) was commissioned to write the piece for this year. The orchestra, led by Ramiz Malik Aslanov, will premiere the work by Gedizlioglu at the festival on October 3, 2013. Gedizlioglu currently lives in Berlin, and in 2012, she won the Composers' Prize from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Additionally in 2012, the German federal initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas" honored the Orchestra Campus project as one of the country's best ideas. DW's Orchestra Campus has established an intercultural project at the Beethovenfest Bonn that follows in Beethoven's humanist tradition of international understanding and peace. Since the project began in 2001, 13 youth orchestras from DW's broadcast regions have been hosted in Beethoven's city of birth.
