Hydraulic medium generates damping effect
With their special design, the hydro mounts dampen vibrations that arise. They have a hydraulic medium on the inside that moves feely within the rubber element. If the hydro mount is put into motion, the hydraulic medium flows through the narrow channels inside the bushing. The resulting flow resistance creates a counterforce to the externally generated shift. Thanks to this hydraulic damping, vibrations are mitigated and the comfort enhanced for the driver. The hydro mount can bear loads from 1,230 N to 3,000 N in the application. Testing has already demonstrated the long service life of the hydro mounts from ContiTech. Another advantage of the bushing: In contrast to classic mounts, they can be rotated along their center axis. This simplifies maintenance work on vehicle on which the driver cab is tilted to provide access for instance to the engine.
For ContiTech Vibration Control, the new hydro mount is an important advancement in expanding the product range. "We will soon be using it to offer our customers solutions for other application fields," Narberhaus emphasizes. "In this way, we will satisfy the needs of the market in the future as well." The hydro bushing will be launched on the market in 2013 as a product series with two different inner diameters and three different levels of rigidity. The production of further variants is possible on request.
