CompuGroup Medical acquires remaining shares in HCS

(PresseBox) (Koblenz, )
CompuGroup Medical has completed its takeover of HCS (Health Communication Service) by acquiring the remaining shares in the Austrian-based company on 1 December 2010. The group had already held a 50% stake in HCS since 2006 via its Austrian subsidiary systema. Anticipated turnover for 2010 is 2 million euro, and EBITDA are expected to come in at approximately 560,000 million euro.

HCS, which has its Registered Office in Steyr in Austria, is a leading provider in the fields of electronic results reporting, electronic image and data transfer, patient referral and workflow solutions for integrated care. The company also offers doctors' portals. As a HCS shareholder of four years' standing, CompuGroup Medical is already extremely familiar with the systems operated by the company.

The acquisition of the remaining shares means that the HCS product portfolio can now be completely integrated into the group. CompuGroup Medical CEE is already one of the leading IT providers in the Austrian healthcare sector and operates five subsidiaries in the country. The company uses intelligent workflow solutions to network general practitioners, specialists and hospital doctors. The systems in place support all medical and organisational activities. Its customer base includes more than 4,500 doctors' surgeries and in excess of 140 in-patient facilities.

"We are already the market leader in Austria for hospital information systems", CompuGroup Medical CEO Frank Gotthardt proudly asserts. "The acquisition of HCS will enable us to continue to expand our presence in the field of network solutions. Our aim is to provide an overarching networking system for service providers in the Austrian healthcare system. HCS will have a particularly crucial part to play in the implementation of important electronic healthcare file applications and workflows". Mr. Gotthardt concluded by saying that this would deliver greater levels of performance whilst reducing the cost base.
