CETATEST 925 LP: New volumetric flow tester for precise flow measurement at low pressure in inline quality control

New flow testing device for measuring high gas flow rates up to 210 l/min at test pressures below 10 mbar – ideal for automotive, HVAC, and industrial quality assurance

(PresseBox) (Hilden, )
CETA Testsysteme GmbH is introducing the CETATEST 925 LP (Low Pressure), a new volume flow tester that is particularly well-suited for measuring high gas flow rates of several hundred liters per minute at test pressures below 10 mbar. Compressed air is used as the test medium. The tester can be used for inline quality control in the production process.

Volume flow tester CETATEST 925 LP

With the new CETATEST 925 LP flow tester, CETA introduces a complete technical redesign and upgrade of the previous CETATEST 915 LP. The precision mechanical pressure regulator used in the previous model has been replaced by a radial fan. As a result, the CETATEST 925 LP is significantly more compact (4U instead of the previous 6U) and more cost-effective than its more complex predecessor, the CETATEST 915 LP.

The use of a radial fan enables active and controlled pressure generation, eliminating the need for an external compressed air supply. Multiple flow calibrations at different test pressures can be stored in the test device. This allows for flexible use and an extended range of applications.

The flow is measured based on the pressure drop across an internally mounted laminar flow element. The air flow is directed through the part to be tested, and the measured flow rate is compared to the set values to determine whether the parts are acceptable or defective.

The CETATEST 925 LP flow tester is suitable for flow tests using compressed air as the test medium in the low-pressure range between 2 and 10 mbar and has a measurement range up to 210 l/min (depending on the test pressure).

Among other features, the tester is equipped with a 7” touchscreen display, a high-resolution A/D converter, user-friendly operation, and an intuitive graphical user interface. The device has a memory capacity for more than 1 million measurement results and 256 individually configurable test programs with alphanumeric program names.

Communication | Compatibility | Measurement Data Documentation | Traceability

The CETATEST 925 LP is equipped with an I/O interface, RS-232, USB (host), and Ethernet as standard. Profibus DP, Profinet, EtherCAT, and USB (slave) are available as options.

The CETATEST 925 LP is fully interface-compatible with the previous CETATEST 915 LP series.

By transmitting relevant data from the testing process (such as test pressure and measured flow rate) to the master control system, the requirements for traceability of the measured values are met.

The free CETA Soft 2G application software enables the management of measurement series and provides a variety of graphical representations (measurement curves, histograms) for a detailed analysis of test results.

Areas of Use and Applications

In the automotive sector, the airflow through the air vents or air outlets in the instrument panel is a critical factor in meeting comfort and functional requirements.

For this reason, airflow testing is frequently conducted for quality assurance purposes. These end-of-line tests ensure that the airflow meets the specified requirements.

There are a number of manufacturer-specific guidelines in this regard. High air flow rates (up to approximately 200 l/min) must be measured at relatively low pressures, in the range of 3–10 mbar.

It is tested how much air flows through the nozzle at a specific pressure drop (e.g., 200 Pa, 500 Pa). The flow rate is tested not only in the open position but also at various positions of the horizontal/vertical blades, since the position affects the air volume.

The test ensures that the air outlets meet the requirements for automatic air conditioning systems (zone control).

For components of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, as well as for fans and exhaust ducts of gas-fired boilers, the gas or air flow rate is a critical factor for reliable and safe operation. The product will only function properly if this flow rate remains within the permissible range.

For this reason, a 100% routine test is integrated into the production process as part of the outgoing goods inspection. Depending on the magnitude of the volume flows to be measured, the CETATEST 925 LP can also be used for this purpose.

Accredited Calibration | Warranty | Availability

All CETA test devices, including the CETATEST 925 LP, as well as calibration standards, are supplied as standard upon initial delivery—at no extra charge—with an internationally recognized accredited calibration certificate in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. This also meets the requirements of the international standard IATF 16949, which is applicable in the automotive industry. CETA Testsysteme GmbH provides a standard 3-year warranty on test devices with annual maintenance, with an optional extension to 5 years. The CETATEST LP is now available.

About CETA Testsysteme GmbH CETA Testsysteme GmbH has been developing and manufacturing industrial leak and flow testing devices “Made in Germany” for more than 35 years. The devices are integrated into production lines for 100% routine testing of components. They are used in industries such as automotive, medical technology, packaging, electronics, security and defense. Several thousand CETA test devices are in use worldwide in production lines for quality control.

CETA Testsysteme GmbH

CETA Testsysteme GmbH - Solution partner for industrial leak and flow testing

CETA Testsysteme GmbH, based in Hilden near Düsseldorf, Germany, was founded in 1988 and has been active for more than 35 years as a manufacturer of physical measurement instruments used in leak tests and flow measurements. Compressed air is used as test medium. This testing procedure is characterised by the fact that it can be integrated in the production line with high process reliability.

The test equipment "Made in Germany" is developed in-house and along with the components and accessories (e.g. calibration standards) are manufactured by CETA. This takes into account the high demands on the quality of the internal modules used. A comprehensive range of test devices means that the right solution can be found for almost any testing application.

Semi-automatic test stands are also offered. The test devices are used by customers for quality assurance, quality control and production assurance. The customers are mainly from the automotive industry, e-mobility, medical technology, heating and air conditioning industry, energy sector, fittings and household appliances industry, packaging industry, security and defence industry.

The company is certified according to DIN ISO 9001 and won the Quality Award of North Rhine Westphalia in the industry category in 2002. Since 2012, CETA has been consistently certified with a very good credit rating.

The calibration laboratory was accredited in 2004 by the German Calibration Service (DKD) and in 2014 by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) - as the successor to the DKD - as a DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratory. The DAkkS-accredited calibration (compliant with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard) meets the requirements of the IATF 16949 standard applicable in the automotive industry.

CETA Testsysteme GmbH is the first German manufacturer of leak testers to deliver its test equipment with DKD- or DAkkS-accredited calibration certificate as standard since 2004. From mid-2024, flow testers as well as pressure manometers and calibration standards will also be supplied with a DAkkS-accredited calibration certificate as standard and at no extra cost on initial delivery.

The comprehensive range of services includes consulting, feasibility studies, commissioning, training, maintenance and calibration.

With cooperation partners in China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary and with thousands of test devices in use all over the world, CETA Testsysteme GmbH presents itself as a competent solution partner for industrial leak and flow testing.
