The early bird catches the "worm" with PURCHINEERING 2.0 by CADENAS

How purchasing can come into play a lot sooner in the future with PARTsolutions by CADENAS

(PresseBox) (Augsburg, )
While products are being developed, there is frequent disagreements among the departments about which component is best. Purchasing prefers the lowest-priced product, while the engineer chooses the technically best product. In practice, an early involvement of purchasing is still a rare thing. The saying, "The early bird catches the worm" truly applies to the PURCHINEERING 2.0 concept by CADENAS, in connection with the Strategic Parts Management PARTsolutions, which gets purchasing involved early on in the product development process.

To trust is good, but to check is better!

Intelligent searching methods available to the engineer ensure, in theory, that standard parts or purchased parts, preferred by purchasing for the design, will come into use. But what if the engineer's searches are non-existent or superficial at the most? The diversity of parts and suppliers is on the increase, single parts are being developed instead of using purchased parts available on the market, and preferred suppliers with existing framework agreements remain unconsidered.

With PURCHINEERING 2.0, an automatic service in the background monitors all parts that are newly checked in and examines whether the part really has to be created anew. If the new creation was unjustified, a report is generated over night and sent to the engineer concerned.

For components already in the company's own PLM system, the so-called traffic light switch simplifies the use of preferred parts and suppliers. Thus, engineers can use only those components for their design that have been released by purchasing and marked green. If in fact a new component is needed, it will have to pass through a defined approval process.
