Busch Vacuum Solutions at K 2022

Perfect vacuum solutions for extruder degassing

(PresseBox) (Maulburg, )
Busch Vacuum Solutions will be showcasing its latest generation of PLASTEX vacuum systems for extruder degassing at K 2022. PLASTEX vacuum systems provide full connectivity to exchange data with the extruder controller. They can also be programmed and monitored via a display. Its frequency-controlled drive motor enables demand-driven control so that the programmed vacuum level is precisely maintained – the energy saved is a major plus.

PLASTEX vacuum systems have become established in recent years for degassing the melt in the screw zone of extruders. Busch Vacuum Solutions will be showcasing such a system with a built-in MINK claw vacuum pump to trade visitors at K 2022. These vacuum pumps work dry, i.e. they do not require any operating fluids in the compression chamber. This completely eliminates the effort and costs for their preparation or disposal.

The new generation of PLASTEX vacuum systems also offers many other benefits. Thanks to the demand-driven control and the possibility of precisely adjusting the vacuum level to the material to be extruded, the extruder and the temperature conditions, reproducible product quality is possible without having to readjust the vacuum level during the process via valves. PLASTEX vacuum systems come in different configurations and sizes. They are suitable for both compounds and masterbatches. They can be used to degas polyolefins such as PP/PE, EVA, PBT, ABS, EVOH or POM. Even the degassing of recycled material poses no problems for these Busch vacuum solutions. A flushing device enables the vacuum pump to be cleaned after or during the process. Cleaning intervals and detergent dosage can also be programmed as required.

A controller also constantly monitors the condition of the filters and separators and signals immediately via the display or the extruder control if, for example, a filter needs to be cleaned or condensate needs to be drained from the after-separator or condensate collection tank. The operator therefore always has an overview of all operating parameters. Any necessary action steps are displayed at all times. This improves operational safety, simplifies operation and significantly reduces maintenance effort. Supported by intelligent IoT solutions, production downtime can also be kept to a minimum.

MINK claw vacuum pumps from Busch have become established not only in degassing the melt during extrusion. This vacuum technology is also ideally suited for pneumatic material feed. These vacuum generators not only enable the careful transport of material in conveyor systems, but also further energy and cost savings thanks to energy-efficient operation.
