DMP 336 - pressure transmitter for H2 and hydrogen-containing media with ATEX, IECEx and SIL certification

The DMP 336 is a highly specialized pressure sensor for hydrogen pressure measurement applications due to its compressive strength and material resistance in combination with comprehensive certifications for explosion protection and functional safety

(PresseBox) (Thierstein, )
The production and use of hydrogen as prospective energy source or energy storage medium continues to advance. Regardless of whether fuel cells, hydrogen filling stations or plants for the production or processing of hydrogen are being designed, monitoring the pressure within the various processes is essential. The pressure to be measured ranges from the low pressure range up to approx. 1,000 bar.

Depending on the conditions of use and the form of hydrogen being used, safety measures must be taken to ensure the safe use of H2 and avoid critical plant operation. One important aspect is the embrittlement of the material used by hydrogen. Hydrogen embrittlement can change the material properties of stainless steel components, pipes, weld seams, etc. and lead to cracks and leaks. H2 can thus accumulate in a confined space and react explosively with a hydrogen-air mixture of between 18...75% if a corresponding ignition source is present. This would result in damage to equipment and personal injury. Therefore, not only the choice of the right material is part of the system design, but also the choice of the appropriate safety concept.

In order to provide system planners and operators with the greatest possible flexibility and safety, the DMP 336 pressure transmitter not only focuses on the material properties, but also on the design of the internal signal processing in order to eliminate further potential hazards as far as possible. The electronics concept of the DMP 336 is designed in such a way that not only the requirements of the ATEX and IECEx specifications in accordance with EN IEC 60079 and IEC 60079 are met, but also the safety consideration SIL2 in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC61511, which means that the DMP 336 pressure transmitter is ideally equipped to reliably and safely measure the pressure in critical H2 applications.

The DMP 336 pressure transmitter is therefore a robust, reliable solution for pressure monitoring in hydrogen-containing media and demanding industrial environments. Its high pressure resistance, material resistance and comprehensive certifications for explosion protection and functional safety ensure long-lasting and safe use.

The DMP 336 is a highly specialized pressure sensor that is certified for both local use as well as global projects and thus meets the requirements of modern hydrogen applications.
