Siemens AG Mobility decides in favor of the e:CLS

Wherever you may travel, Siemens Division Mobility has already been there. For example, the complex New York City Subway operations control center, automated train control system and electronic interlocking. The Braunschweig and Berlin sites decided in favor of the empolis:Content Lifecycle Suite (e:CLS) content management system for comprehensive and efficient documentation of products and systems. e:CLS is a state-of-the-art component content management system for XML and other formats. e:CLS is the perfect solution for the creation, maintenance, management, translation and publication of any technical documentation.

The Siemens Division Mobility technical editorial staff works on approx. 15,000 pages and 7,000 graphics annually. The graphics alone amount to more than 7 GB of storage space. In addition, around 1 GB of XML documents and around 2 GB of MS Office files can be added on top. The sheer volume of data exemplifies the potential for rationalization that can be tapped into with the help of an intelligent content management system. The system provides unique functionalities for link management (“link tagging”) and a highly-productive, integrated workflow engine when used with “Workpoint”.

By the end of 2008, the system will be actively implemented with 50 editors. An extended rollout is planned for 2009.
