The Acturion Datasys GmbH ( www.acturion.com ), leading solution provider in the field of Industrial and Military Mobile Computing presents with the new Victum-Note A12 and the new Victum-Note A14 the most powerful full-ruggedized Military Notebooks. The A12 and the A14 share the same base they just have different display sizes. The Victum-Note A12 has a XGA 12.1“ TFT display with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels whereas the Victum-Note A14 has a 14.1“ TFT display with the same resolution. Both units can be ordered with standard display or sunlight readable high contrast display, for the A12 there is additionally a resistive Touch Screen available.
The Victum-Note A Series is designed for the Military market. The housing is completely sealed and made of a special light metal die cast alloy which makes the A Series very ruggedized and keeps its weight at a low level of 12lbs. only. The Victum-Note A Series is fan less! Inside the hermetically sealed housing heat pipes transfer the heat produced by the CPU to the metal housing so the housing acts as heat sink. The housing of the A Series fulfils Ingress Protection class IP54 (NEMA 4) and the Military standard MIL-STD810F. MIL-STD461E (Tempest) is special option. The Victum-Note A Series is designed for the specifications of the Military market but can also be used in the law enforcement and rescue services.
The Victum-Note A Series is equipped with the latest Intel Core Dual Processor Technology. The powerful Yonah Core Duo Processor running at 1.66GHz clock rate and the fast DDR2 RAM (up to 2GB) let even complex operations run at a breathtaking speed. Following features are standard: 512MB of DDR2 RAM, 80GB SATA HDD optionally with heating for extended operating temperature range of up to -20°C, 1 Gigabit LAN RJ45, 1 56K Modem RJ11, 1 RS232 D-Sub, 1 LPT1, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 IrDA, 1 Audio-In and 1 Audio-Out, removable main battery and 1 DC-In jack. Following features are option: Backlit keyboard, Touchpad glove operable, wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth class 2 and built-in fingerprint sensor for biometric User Log-In by fingerprint.
Two more features give the Victum-Note A Series a unique position in the Military market. First feature is a special expansion unit which allows the user to integrate 2 ISA, 2 PCI or, brand new, 2 PCI Express plug-in boards in the A Series notebooks. The expansion cards can have full height and a maximum length of 210mm (8.5 Inch). Second feature are the 2 so called media bays in the A Series notebook which allow the user to pre- and reconfigure the Victum-Note A Series to different setups. All in all 13 different plug-in modules are available for the 2 media bays. Media bay 1 can accommodate 1 additional battery, 1 DVD-RW or 1 DVD combo drive, 1 additional 80GB HDD. Media Bay 2 can accommodate the following 9 modules: 1 32bit PCMCIA module with another 2 Type I/II slots, 1 plug-in module with another 2 RS232 D-Sub ports or 1 RS422 module, 1 GPS module with built-in mouse antenna, 1 wireless EVDO modem, 1 wireless HSDPA modem, another exchangeable battery, additional FDD or a SmartCard Reader.
For the installation in vehicles there is a Vehicle Docking Mount available with DC Car Adapter. For the use in tanks or helicopters with extreme vibrations the Victum-Note A Series notebooks can be bolted on a Ultra Shock Mount.
Normally the A Series notebooks come with a padded soft carrying case. For more rugged transport Acturion offers a handcrafted transit cases with a shock absorbing inlay for the notebook and accessories. Prices start at 3.995 Euros plus VAT.
