4D will also treat JS.everywhere 2012 attendees to a special preview of features planned for a future version of Wakanda, including a full JavaScript stack in the Cloud, a peek at the IDE running in the browser, and learning about the planned support for RESTful database connectivity.
"We are very excited to preview for the first time some of our projects in development such as the first complete JavaScript stack for the Cloud," said Laurent Ribardiere, 4D CEO. "JavaScript developers will soon be able to develop and deploy their applications directly in the cloud. We're also excited to introduce Wakanda 3 today. We listen very carefully to developers and work closely with them to ensure that new versions of Wakanda deliver what developers need. For version 3, we are providing even more stability to improve their development experience."
Wakanda 3: Enhanced Development, Compatibility and Security
Wakanda 3 features answer the needs of the JavaScript development community by providing improved cross-device development experience for tablet, smartphone and desktop applications. This includes an enhanced Form Designer and improved touch event handling for mobile devices. Version 3 also provides an enhanced SSL security mechanism for Web pages on both the solution and application levels. Developers will find IPv6 support for the Wakanda Server as well as enhancements to the Code Editor. Mac developers will now have compatibility with the Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Gatekeeper security feature, as well as optimization for Macs with Retina displays.
About Wakanda
Wakanda provides developers with a first-ever full stack JavaScript development platform for Web and mobile business applications. The Wakanda foundation relies on best-of-breed technology: a development studio, client framework, NoSQL database, server and model-driven architecture; Web applications developed with Wakanda are easily deployed on the Cloud.
Built on 25 years of business application experience and with the support of an active developer community, Wakanda's new development environment can be extended with third-party widgets, libraries and server modules. In addition, Wakanda's Open Source environment supports developers by adding connectors to their preferred databases. Wakanda is fully industry standard compliant, including JSON, REST/HTTP, W3C, and CommonJS.
Availability and Pricing
Wakanda 3 is available immediately, and is offered in two editions: the free open source community edition (Scout), and a commercial edition (Warrior) for $35/month.
