New at BlowerDoor GmbH: Fan Calibration according to Manufacturer's Specification

New at BlowerDoor since April 2023 is the calibration (1-point) according to manufacturer's specification for the BlowerDoor Standard measuring fan (model 4). One measured value is calibrated per measuring orifice. The requirement of ISO 9972 for the accuracy of the measuring systems of ± 7 % is assessed. A previous basic maintenance and functional test is included. We calibrate according to date request and ask for registration, in order to ensure short calibration times of max. 5 working days.

Calibration of BlowerDoor Fans

The calibrations are conducted by an accredited lab and based on their traceability to national standards (EN 17025) provide maximum accuracy. Per flow-ring (open fan and rings A-E or 1-4), the calibration includes testing three values each in the lower, mid-level and upper flow-rate measuring range in a chamber test stand at a pressure differential of 50 Pa. The manufacturer recommends the calibration of BlowerDoor fans every four years.

How to correctly perform a BlowerDoor measurement in windy conditions?

Air flows due to wind are irregular and cause pressure fluctuations on the building. Overpressure occurs on the side of the building exposed to the wind, while suction occurs on the side away from the wind. These fluctuations also influence the BlowerDoor measurement.
