Der neue CFP2-Steckverbinder (Serienbezeichnung CA009) mit 100Gbps High-Speed Datenübertragung erfüllt als erster voll die MSA-Anforderungen.

Die Anforderungen durch die MSA an den CFP2-Steckverbinder als Weiterentwicklung des Standard-CFP-Steckverbinders waren hoch. Es ging unter anderem darum, den Pitch des CFP von derzeit 0,8mm auf 0,6mm für den CFP2 zu reduzieren und dabei weiterhin die Datenübertragungsrate von 100Gbps zu erreichen. Yamaichi Electronics hat dies mit dem neuen CFP2-Steckverbinder als einer der ersten Hersteller realisieren können.

Die Signale werden über einen 80-poligen Host-Connector übertragen, der als SMD-Variante zur Verfügung steht. Um die 100Gbps übertragen zu können, stehen bis zu 4 Kanäle zu je 25Gbps
