Whenever consumers are able to withdraw cash from ATMs at retail stores, sales at these stores go up. This was proven in studies conducted at store locations operated by ICA, Sweden\'s leading retail group. "We have statistics that show that stores with ATMs have three to four percent higher sales growth than those that don't," says Oskar Sundblad, Director 'Bank in Store' at ICA Banken. In light of these positive experiences, ICA Banken is expanding its ATM network. All ATM network operations are managed by Wincor Nixdorf.

ICA Banken, a subsidiary of the retail group, has signed a comprehensive IT services frame agreement with Wincor Nixdorf. For a period of four years, as part of its Managed Services offering, Wincor Nixdorf will provide all services from self-service system monitoring, help desk services and software distribution to traditional hardware maintenance for ATMs in retail stores. Furthermore, Wincor Nixdorf will also provide Cash Management services to optimize the amount of cash held in the ATMs. Currently, these services are provided for 170 retail stores.

The agreement also includes the installation of 15 new Wincor Nixdorf SlimCash 200 ATMs. These ATMs are particularly suitable for non-bank locations with limited available space, allowing customers to obtain cash right where they need it. "We are offering these new models to retailers which serve between 6,000 and 12,000 customers per week at the store," explains Sundblad. Wincor Nixdorf will be responsible for the entire installation process, including site preparation, project planning, equipment supply, setup and training.

Wincor Nixdorf is already a long-time partner of ICA, having installed more than 6,000 POS systems in around 1,300 Swedish stores. The ICA Group has over 2,230 company-owned and franchised locations in Sweden, Norway and the Baltic States. The Group, one of the leading retail corporations in the Nordic region, includes retail subsidiaries ICA Sverige, ICA Norge and Rimi Baltic. The Group also offers financial services in Sweden through its ICA Banken subsidiary.
