The new BEETLE /M-II plus for maximum performance, yet environmentally-friendly power consumption
New checkout services that necessitate integration of Internet and multimedia content demand POS hardware that delivers great computing power. The BEETLE /M-II plus is precisely tailored to high-performance applications like these. Depending on their requirements, customers can choose from among three performance classes from the Intel Core Solo and Duo processor generations and configure the number of I/O interfaces and various drive options.
The new BEETLE /M-II plus uses cutting-edge Intel processors that offer better performance, yet consume more than 30% less power than those of predecessor generations. An important feature in improving energy efficiency is the POS system s 80 PLUS power supply units. They boast an 80% efficiency rate, which is 30% better than that of conventional power supply units. All the other BEETLE models will be successively equipped with 80 PLUS power supply units in 2008. The BEETLE POS family is thus pursuing the global goal of cutting CO2 emissions by IT systems (Green IT initiative), yet it also helps minimize total cost of ownership.
The BEETLE /M-II plus offers a wide range of standard PC and retail-specific powered interfaces for connecting numerous peripherals. Additional USB ports are accessible from the front to provide even more convenience. The type and number of interfaces can be customized very flexibly.
In selecting the components, Wincor Nixdorf attached great importance to their long-term availability to ensure that in projects, customers can be supplied with the same hardware over a long period of time. All the models in the BEETLE product portfolio are available for at least five years and will be maintained for a further seven years after that.
