Das Bundeskartellamt hat der Übernahme der MediaHome GmbH & Co. KG, Essen, durch das Joint Venture Versatel Media GmbH zugestimmt. Über den Kaufpreis wurde Stillschweigen vereinbart. Die Versatel AG, einer der größten infrastrukturbasierten Telekommunikationsanbieter in Deutschland und Gesellschafter der Versatel Media GmbH, setzt somit ihre Kabelstrategie, die Mitte des Jahres durch den Erwerb des Kabelnetzbetreibers begonnen wurde, erfolgreich fort.

Das Joint Venture ermöglicht der Versatel AG den alleinigen Zugriff auf den Kundenstamm der MediaHome GmbH von rund 81.000 Haushalten. Das Kabelnetz der MediaHome GmbH ist weitgehend deckungsgleich mit dem Versatel-Netz. Gleichzeitig kann Versatel bestehenden Versatel-Kunden im Gebiet des MediaHome-Kabelnetzes
