"During the first seven month of 2009, sales of EMO-relevant precision tools decreased by almost 40 percent compared to the same period last year", said Lothar Horn, newly-elected chairman of the German Precision Tools Association at the press lunch in Milan, and added: "But we hope for an economic recovery in 2010."

EMO Milan is the most important fair for the German precision tool manufacturers in 2009. Thus, about 100 of the 450 exhibiting tool manufacturers are well-known German companies. And for the first time the German Precision Tools Association takes part with an own information desk in a foreign fair.

Precision tools are used on machine tools in all areas of metal working, including among others, the automobile, aircraft and electrical industries.

At EMO Milan the main product groups shown are cutting tools, work and tool holders, jigs and fixtures, and dimensional measuring equipment.

Employing more than 70,000 people, the precision tools industry is one of the largest sectors of the German mechanical engineering industry.
