„Vom Donner erwischt: Was tun bei Gewitter?“ Diese und ähnliche Schlagzeilen dominierten die schwülheißen Tage dieses Sommers. Eine Bilanz der Gewittersaison zogen jetzt über 200 Experten bei der 12. Blitzschutztagung des VDE-Ausschusses Blitzschutz und Blitzforschung (VDE|ABB) in Aschaffenburg. Auf dem Programm standen auch aktuelle Themen der Normung, Blitzschutz spezieller Objekte und Personenblitzschutz. Außerdem zeichnete der VDE Wolfgang Heuhsen, langjährigen Geschäftsführer von RBS + PWW GmbH in Berlin, für sein herausragendes Engagement mit der Goldenen Ehrennadel aus. Er entwickelte den VDE-Comic Donner-Wetter!, der Kinder und Jugendliche über die Gefahren von Blitz und Donner und das richtige Verhalten bei Gewitter aufklärt.
