Bisher unbekannter Selbstschutzmechanismus der Nierenfilterzellen entdeckt

Chronische Nierenerkrankungen betreffen weltweit jeden zehnten Menschen. Ein wesentlicher Treiber ist die Schädigung spezialisierter Filterzellen der Nieren, der Podozyten. Forschende des SFB 1192 des Universitätsklinikums Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) haben nun einen bisher unbekannten Selbstschutzmechanismus der Nierenfilterzellen entdeckt. Sie fanden heraus, dass bei der Autoimmunerkrankung Membranöse Nephropathie krankheitsauslösende Autoantikörper die Bildung neuartiger „AutoImmunoglobulin-Getriggerter Extrazellulärer Vesikel“ (AIT-EVs) auslösen. Diese vesikelartigen Strukturen schnüren sich von den (Fuß)fortsätzen der Podozyten ab und gelangen als Abfalltransport in den Urin. „Die gezielte Anreicherung im Urin ermöglicht eine präzise Identifikation krankheitsrelevanter Autoantikörper – selbst bei negativen Serumtests. Damit eröffnet dieser wahrscheinlich hochkonservierte zelluläre Reinigungsmechanismus einen neuen, nicht-invasiven Ansatz
