Das Fußball-Roboter-Team CoPS der Uni Stuttgart erreichte beim RoboCup German Open auf der Hannover Messe den zweiten Platz. Das Finale am 21. April war spannend, nur knapp konnten sich die Gegner Brainstormers Tribots von der Uni Osnabrück durchsetzen und errangen mit einem Spielstand von 3:2 den 1. Platz. Dritter wurde die niederländische Mannschaft von der TU Eindhoven. Die Kicker vom Institut für Parallele und Verteilte Systeme (IPVS) spielen in der „Middle-Size-Liga“ und wurden bei der RoboCup-Weltmeisterschaft 2006 in dieser Klasse Vizeweltmeister. Für die RoboCup German Open haben die Stuttgarter Wissenschaftler ihre ferngesteuerten Blechkameraden mit zahlreichen Neuerungen ausgestattet.
