Innovative Orthopädietechnik - Wissenschaftler der Uni Potsdam auf der OT World in Leipzig

Eine neue Methode zur Verbesserung der medizinischen Betreuung in Entwicklungsländern präsentiert das Team Amparo von der Universität Potsdam auf der diesjährigen OT World. In Partnerschaft mit der Berliner Koch Orthopädie entwickelte das Team eine Technologie, die es ermöglicht, Beinprothesen außerhalb von Spezialkliniken anzupassen. Die weltweit führende Messe für Orthopädietechnik findet bis 6. Mai 2016 in Leipzig statt.

Viele in Entwicklungsländern lebende Menschen mit Amputationen haben keine Beinprothesen. Um dieses Problem zu lösen, haben sich Ingenieure, Designer und Gesundheitswissenschaftler aus Deutschland, den USA und Brasilien zusammengefunden. Für das Projekt besuchte das sechsköpfige Team abgelegene Dörfer in Südafrika. Die Betroffenen leben dort
