Neuartige Sitzsteuerung des Departments Informatik der Universität Hamburg noch bis zum 12. März auf dem Internationalen Automobil-Salon 2006 in Genf zu sehen

Die Gruppe interactive media / virtual environments (im/ve), die von der Juniorprofessorin Steffi Beckhaus am Department Informatik der Universität Hamburg geleitet wird, hat eine neuartige Computersteuerung auf der Basis eines Stuhls entwickelt. Die Sitzsteuerung chairIO ermöglicht die Bewegung durch dreidimensionale virtuelle Welten und Computerspiele, indem der Hocker - eine frei rotierende, nach allen Seiten kippbare Sitzfläche eines Bürostuhls - als Joystick verwendet wird. Auf dem Hocker sitzend kann der Benutzer auch durch sehr kleine, präzise Hüftbewegungen chairIO steuern und dabei die Richtung und die Geschwindigkeit der Fahrt kontrollieren. Somit bleiben die Hände frei zur Bedienung weiterer Interaktionsgeräte wie Maus und
