Unity Demonstrate the Power of the Butterfly Effect Animated Short

San Francisco, CA, (PresseBox) - At Unite 2012 in Amsterdam, Unity demonstrated the real-time rendered Butterfly Effect animated short as proof of Unity's growing power and high-end visual capabilities. The short movie project, a collaboration between Unity Technologies Stockholm office, two-time Academy Award winning animation studio Passion Pictures, and Nvidia was designed to push Unity's capabilities further while providing strong research from which to improve the technology into the future.

You can now see some of the technical achievements explained in greater detail in a behind the scenes video on the Butterfly Effect mini-site (http://unity3d.com/promo/butterfly/). The video goes behind the scenes to show the project running in-editor and details the biggest technical hurdles overcome during the project including major workflow and animation pipeline issues, lighting, shaders, particle effects, explosions, and one of the most realistic characters seen in real-time thanks to incredible skin shaders and realistic tessellated hair.

In the video, you'll see the processes, progress, and takeaways that made the Butterfly Effect project an important step in Unity's continuing forward evolution as the most popular, powerful, and elegant development platform in the world.
