Unite 11: First Full Unity Game for Consoles Released

Rochard Blasts onto the PlayStation Network to Become the First Full Unity Authored Game on Home Gaming Systems

San Francisco, CA, (PresseBox) - At Unite 11, Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity development platform for awesome games and interactive 3D on the web, iOS, Android, consoles and beyond, is thrilled to recognize the first full titles developed using the Unity game authoring platform have been released for consoles. Rochard, by Recoil Games, is the first full game to be released to consoles and is now available exclusively on the PlayStation Network. Two Unity-developed gadgets, Air Band and Mutation Station developed by Relentless Studios, were released recently for Xbox Kinect Fun Labs.

Rochard, a side-scrolling action-puzzle game makes clever use of physics and gravity to craft an endearing and exciting sci-fi adventure. When a space mining station comes under attack by belligerent aliens, the titular character, an uncharacteristic hero with a belly as big as his attitude, must fight his way across a mining station using his G-lifter to move heavy objects while manipulating the strength of gravity within the station in order to solve puzzles in search of the reason behind the assault.

The clever combination of puzzle elements pushed IGN.com to award Rochard with an Editor's Choice while giving the game a score of 8.5/10. The high score underlines an excellent beginning for Unity's jump into the console market.

Unity Technologies began offering publishing capabilities for consoles in early 2010 with the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. PlayStation 3 support was included with the release of Unity 3.0 in September of the same year.
